RE-think at Newtown Festival
On Saturday 28th June RE-think along with other similar groups from around the region joined forces to host a stand at the Newtown Outdoor Festival. It was a relaxed and informal event and we pleased that many visitors stopped by to talk and take a look at what we had to offer. We were all rather horrified at the number of people who knew little or nothing of Bute Energy's plans to industrialise our beautiful areas. Never mind though, we were all equipped with plenty of reading material for them to take away, explaining just what Bute and others are trying to force upon us all. When people began to realise just how tall the proposed turbines were (over 200m) and how vast the developments would be, covering many square miles, many were visibly shocked.
Very many thanks are due to everyone who took part, but especially to Sally, Pixi, Missy and Minnie who arranged it all. They are fighting to protect the Hafren Forest and Glaslyn Nature Reserve near Dylife from Bute's proposed "Esgair Galed Energy Park." Thanks to them we were certainly able to demonstrate how united our groups have become across Mid Wales and beyond.
