RE-think at Royal Welsh Show
This was RE-think’s third year running at the show and as ever we had a large number of visitors to the stand. This year it seemed that people were more informed about the proposals to carpet Mid Wales in 200m high wind turbines. Many of those who visited asked detailed questions about the plans and, in most cases, enquired what they could do to help stop them.
We told them, as always, that writing to their politicians (Welsh, UK, councillors, everyone) expressing their views about the proposals was the best thing they could do. We also signed up many new volunteers and those wishing to receive our regular Newsletter.
It was gratifying that Welsh and/or UK politicians of every main party except Labour called in to see us. Huw Irranca-Davies MS, the Minister for Climate Change, was spotted walking past and invited in but declined, citing a hoarse voice and his need for a break before his next meeting.
Many people asked if we had a petition to sign; we didn’t as this year we are concentrating on fundraising. But watch this space: who knows what the next few months will bring.
Finally, a big thank you to everyone who came to help us on the stand. We couldn’t do it without you!
